Alberto Murray Neto

Attorney admitted to the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), São Paulo section in 1990; admitted to Portuguese Bar Association, Lisbon Council in 1999. Legal Education: graduated from University of São Paulo Law School; post-graduation at the University of Toronto Law School (Comparative Capital Markets Regulation Program – 1990/1991). Expertise: International Tax Law, International Business Law, Contracts, Business Law, Corporate Governance and Integrity, Mergers and Acquisitions. Academic Experience: Guest Professor at Superior Institute of Law and Economy (ISDE), in Madrid, Spain, at the LL.M. program.

Previous Work Experience: Foreign Counsel in the corporate and commercial areas at the law firms “Lang Michener (currently McMillan LLP)” and “Tory Tory Deslauriers & Binnington” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Government Experience: Vice-President of the Board of Trade of the State of São Paulo (2002 – 2006). Legal writing experience: Author of several articles published in foreign and national specialized magazines and newspapers on business law. Recipient of a special award in 1983, from the University of Brasilia and “Jornal da Tarde” newspaper, for his article: “Are Political Parties Necessary for Democracy?”; Co-Author of the book “The Corporations in the Practical View of the Lawyer”. Co-author of the books “Trademark Protection and Intellectual Property – Combating Piracy”, “Agribusiness: the Declaration of Economic Freedom Rights, with emphasis on business activity and Agribusiness” and “Governance, Integrity and Business Law”. Membership: Member of the Business Law and Governance and Integrity Committees of the Brazilian Bar Association – São Paulo Section. Attorney-in-fact in Brazil for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture and Communications of the Government of Quebec, from 2007 to 2019; Founder of the NGO Sylvio de Magalhães Padilha, which supports underprivileged children in Paraisópolis community, helping in their education through sports practice following the pillars of the Olympic ideal. Member of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (1996 – 2008). President of the Ethics Counsil of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (2018 – 2020). Awards: appointed by Who’s Who Legal Brazil, 50 Brazilian Leading Lawyers, Análise Editorial and Exame magazine among the most recommended corporate lawyers in the Country. Distinguished Services to Physical Education, title granted by the Regional Council of Physical Education of the 4th Region, in 2019.
